The Office of Undergraduate Programs features a variety of events year-round, including the Alumni Roundtable Networking Mixer, the Professional Development Panel, the Capstone Workshop Briefings, and the Senior Reception in May.
The programs collaborate yearly with the Student Union for Sustainable Development (SUSD) to offer students interested in sustainability opportunities the chance to connect with a like-minded community. Students can also take advantage of the many events within the Columbia Climate School.
Affiliated Events
This annual event is a great opportunity for juniors and seniors interested in the sustainability and climate fields to network with recent alumni from our programs and receive insights from their lived-in experience about joining the workforce after graduating from Columbia University. The Alumni Roundtable Mixer takes place in November.
This event give current students in our Sustainable Development and Climate & Sustainability the opportunity to hear from alumni and sustainability practitioners about a diversity of topics. In previous panels, students have heard about how to navigate sustainability career paths, the best practices to follow when enrolling in graduate school, as well as climate justice and environmental law in a vast and rapidly evolving field. The Professional Development Panel takes place in March.
The Capstone Workshop Briefings allows undergraduate students to bridge the theoretical knowledge they have gained through their coursework in the natural and social sciences with a real-world, client-based project. Students share project results with the university community at this event before final presentations with their clients. The Briefings take place in May and December.
This event gives seniors in Sustainable Development and Climate & Sustainability majors the opportunity to reflect on their experiences at Columbia as they prepare for graduation. The ceremony allow students, their families, and faculty to recognize student awardees, to celebrate a new class of sustainability professionals and to wish students all the best on their next steps. The ceremony is held in May.
