Columbia Climate Conversations: Food Systems

November 9, 2021
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
America/New_York
Online

Food and agriculture represent a significant portion of global CO2 emissions, yet disparities in access to fresh food still represent a major hurdle for ensuring people’s basic needs are met. “Food Systems” will be a Q&A-style panel event with three representatives working on different aspects of our food system who will share their own experiences, reflections and advice for advancing equity while addressing climate change. The panelists will delve into the complexity of sustainable food systems, advice for sustainable eating practices, managing food waste, the importance of ethical food consumption, unfair working conditions for farmers, and the availability of healthy food in low-income communities of color. This conversation will be hosted over Zoom, and moderated Columbia undergraduate student and Columbia Climate Conversations creator, Lauren Ritchie. The event is open to anyone who RSVPs.
