Disability Justice, Climate Change and Eco-Ableism is a Q&A panel event with disabled activists in the climate sphere. They will discuss the ways that disabled folks have been cast aside within activism spaces, how disabled individuals are at a higher risk of climate disasters, and the wide-spread prevalence of ableism, especially casual ableism, in our society.

About the Panelists:
Gabi Serrato Marks is a climate scientist and patient advocate based in Boston. She earned her Ph.D. in geochemistry in the MIT-WHOI Joint Program in 2020 and is now the Senior Program Coordinator for Postbaccalaureate Training at the Broad Institute. Gabi is passionate about fighting ableism, building inclusive science communities, and drinking iced coffee. You can find her on Twitter and Instagram as @gserratomarks.
Daphne Frias is a 23-year-old youth activist. She is unapologetically Latina. Daphne has Cerebral Palsy and uses a wheelchair to ambulate. She is fiercely proud to be a loud champion for the disabled community. Born and raised in West Harlem, NYC, she has seen how minority communities are disproportionally affected by climate change. Her passion for advocacy propelled her to run from county committee women of Assembly District 70, Election District 80 in West Harlem. In June of 2019, Daphne won her election and continues to work hard to represent her constituents. In the spring of 2019, she was appointed as one of the North American Regional Focal Points for Sustainable Development Goal 16 at the U.N. Major Group for Children and Youth. In this position, she works to highlight and represent the voice of her fellow youth and the work they are doing to become pivotal peacemakers. @frias_daphne
