About this Event
Back by popular demand! As part of its lineup of events celebrating Climate Week 2020, Battery Park City Authority (BPCA) presents a free screening of the award-winning Microplastic Madness on Saturday, September 26th at 3:00 p.m. EST. This acclaimed film tells the inspiring story of 5th graders living on the front lines of the climate crisis in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
This gripping, New York-based documentary shines a light on the root causes of harmful plastic pollution explored by a group of NYC fifth graders who prove to be budding environmental advocates amid the inaction inherent in today’s climate crisis.
In proud partnership with Cafeteria Culture, the film's producer, Battery Park City Authority will host an uninterrupted screening of the film on September 26 (3:00-4:15pm EST), followed by a Q&A panel discussion (4:15-5:00 pm EST) led by the film’s co-directors and producers Debby Lee Cohen and Atsuko Quirk, also directors at Cafeteria Culture.
Nearly 100 youths and their families, citizen activists and others attended BPCA’s screening of the film during Earth Week 2020. Join us for our second screening to wrap up Climate Week with a bang!
**NOTE: Vimeo link to the film, and details on how to join the post-screening Q&A panel discussion, to come.
